The last time the Simple Cavemen had multiple dates scheduled, they jammed three shows into the span of 24 hours. In June, the band will be busy, but it won’t be such a marathon.
First, the Cavemen return to the lovely courtyard at Yalaha Bakery to perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1.
Our recurring appearances at Yalaha are almost like family reunions now, thanks to the hospitality of Bruce, Sandy, Juergen, Anne Marie and the rest of the staff. We’ve even noticed a few returning fans, a big deal for such simple guys.
Although the Cavemen haven’t been playing out much, the band members have been busy writing new material and recording demos at the mythical Hippie House in Orlando for an upcoming studio album. Compared with the band’s debut, expect the new music to be a bit more evolved.
Also, drummer MacGyver made a spring musical tour of Spain, where he spread the word about “Los Hombres de las Cavernas de ensueño.” So we’re global now.
(Later in the month, the band makes its long-awaited return to Orlando for an 8 p.m. show June 22 at Stardust Video & Coffee. More about that event soon.)
