Simple Cavemen set list: May 12, Yalaha Bakery

A cloudy day, but still a fine time on Saturday for the Cavemen in the courtyard at the wonderful Yalaha Bakery.

Thanks to the loyalists who came out to support the group, including one young fan recording a few songs for potential bootleg distribution on the Internet.

A budding entrepreneur!

It was the full lineup on Saturday and the band had a blast, digging deep for a few songs that hadn’t been played for a good long while.

Tie-dye used his wah-wah pedal to great effect and Jimmy Carl even pulled out the hybrid “Carl” sitar to embellish Roscoe’s treatment of an old protest song still relevant today. And we’re always happy to field a request for our strange twist on an Elvis classic!

We’re looking forward to returning to Yalaha on Saturday, May 26, in the midst of Memorial Day weekend.

Meanwhile, here’s what we played:

Set 1. I Know You Rider (Grateful Dead cover); Big River (Johnny Cash cover); Marlena; Jukebox Serenade; Safe Inside the Mirror; Cajun Moon (J.J. Cale cover); Compilation Blues; Isn’t It a Pity (George Harrison cover); Disaster.
