Jimmy Carl set list: Yalaha Bakery, Oct. 28

Jimmy Carl had an absolutely fab time working solo on the bandstand today at Yalaha Bakery, where the fall weather was the real star of the day. Just wonderful.

These solo engagements offer a chance to push beyond the band set lists a bit, evident today with a couple of newly adapted Tom Petty covers, a new take on a Townes Van Zandt classic and a fun, if half-baked, run through “Haunted House,” a Screamin’ Gene Simmons Halloween novelty gem. JC also debuted one of his own new songs, “(I’m Just a) Love Pinata,” a nod to the inspiration of Doug Sahm and the Texas Tornados.

The full band returns to Yalaha on Saturday, Nov. 3. We’d love to see you there. (Yes, you!)
