Jimmy Carl set list: Yalaha Bakery, July 20

Another fun afternoon for Jimmy Carl in the courtyard at Yalaha Bakery. A nice, attentive crowd, including a few folks with a genuine appreciation for the Rolling Stones, who played a big stadium show on Friday night in Jacksonville.

The Stones were represented in the set list, along with the Beatles, Petty, Dylan and, in honor of the moon-landing anniversary, an obscure 1959 rockabilly chestnut.

Jimmy Carl set list: Yalaha Bakery, July 14

A nice summer afternoon in the courtyard at Yalaha Bakery. Many thanks to the bakery staff and to the kind folks who patronize the musical acts. It’s all much appreciated.

Jimmy Carl continues to enjoy his summer solo residency, which offers the opportunity to work new material into the set lists.

On this afternoon that included adaptations of “Dear Prudence” (Beatles); Michael Martin Murphey’s “Geronimo’s Cadillac” (a song that JC hadn’t played since high school); and a cuatro-powered take on Dave Alvin’s “Fourth of July.”

Oh, yeah, there was an Elton John cover, too. Yes, a lot of fun.
